Byron Barnhart

When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.

Master’s Level Intern:

Mental health isn’t achieved, it is cultivated - you’ve come to the right place. My name is Byron Barnhart, and I am an intern here at Sunrise Counseling. I am months away from completing my Masters nearby at Austin Peay State University. Don’t let this discourage you, however, as I have been working in the field for almost 6 years in various settings and serving diverse populations. Steadfast in the growth of my practice, I am committed to you as both a professional and a fellow passenger on this crazy journey we call “life”.

My philosophy of therapy is that everyone has an untapped strength within themselves that must be manifested and encouraged to go out into the world, to seek their true potential, and to engage with their relationships and communities. It takes courage to own one’s suffering and derive meaning and growth from it. I am here to respectfully help reinforce that courage and assist you to gain insight into yourself. With compassion, non-judgement, and commitment to you as my client, I welcome you to this space.

On A Personal Note:

I like to draw, hike, and listen to live music. I’m a bit of a geek for occasional video games and board games, and I have a comical obsession with my Red Heeler/German Shepherd mix, Eva. I’m sure I’ll have a picture of her up somewhere in my office space.

  • Pending Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Austin Peay State University in Aug. 2024
